Joye S. Giroux began writing poetry when she was 18-years-old. Her poetry has won a number of awards and been published in numerous journals. She is a member of several poetry organizaitons, including the National Federation of State Poetry Societies, Inc. and the Poetry Society of Michigan, of which she served as president, 1980-1981, and "Poets Anonymous" of Big Rapids (Mich.). Organized in 1936, the Poetry Society of Michigan continues to actively promote the mutual interests of Michigan poets, encourage a greater understanding of the nature of poetry, and increase cooperation among poets and those interested in poetry.
